A highly anticipated friendly match between Zebra Revolution and Jordan Sinnot at White City Stadium took an unfortunate turn when a Jordan player suffered a fractured leg due to a reckless tackle from a Zebra defender.
The match which was evenly contested with both teams creating scoring opportunities, was prematurely halted with Zebra leading 1-0 courtesy of Keith Chikami’s well-taken goal, assisted by Junior Phakathi’s pinpoint pass.
The incident which occurred just before the match was abandoned, left a portion of the crowd stunned and departing the stadium.
In a subsequent match, Zebra Revolution bounced back with an impressive 5-0 victory, thanks to a hat-trick from striker Allan Tamburikayi and a brace from Prosper Msamanyada. This dominant display is likely to have pleased Coach Mkhokheli Dube, a former striker himself.
As the new Southern Region Division One season approaches, both teams will aim to build on these results and move forward in a positive direction.
