
It was a night to remember at the Golden Lions FC annual awards ceremony, held at the Victoria Falls Deluxe Lodge. The Division 2 side had just completed a remarkable season, earning promotion to the Southern Region Division One league. As the players, coaches, and staff gathered to celebrate their achievements, the atmosphere was electric.
The evening began with the junior awards, recognizing the talented young players who had impressed throughout the season. Try Delight Ncube took home the Under-11 Player of the Year award, with Tinotenda Bhuri and Sibusiso Dube finishing as first and second runners-up, respectively.As the night progressed, the awards continued, with Lesego Sibindi claiming the Under-13 Player of the Year award and Heath Kondowe taking top honors in the Under-15 category. Anesu Kwinjo was crowned the Under-17 Player of the Year, capping off an impressive season for the young star.
The senior awards were just as hotly contested, with Blessing Mukachana earning the Rookie of the Year award after representing Zimbabwe at the COSAFA U17 tournament in South Africa. Junior Mbakata was recognized as the Most Disciplined Player, while Adriano Phiri took home the Most Recognized Award.The Most Improved Award went to Arsene Ncube, and Sipho Mhlanga was named the Most Promising Player. Cannavaro Phiri was honored as the Most Dedicated Player, and Junior Maposa took home the Best Goalkeeper award.
Warrick Siwela was crowned the Best Defender. Clayton Lungu was named the Best Midfielder, and Wayne Diego Ncube took home the Most Loyal Award for his unwavering commitment to the club.
The Top Goal Scorer award went to Craig Mabhena, who also claimed the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards. Jerome Muli was recognized as the Most Skillful Player, impressing with his incredible talent on the pitch.As the night drew to a close, the Golden Lions FC family came together to celebrate their achievements.
With their promotion to the Southern Region Division One league, where they will compete with the likes of Bulawayo Chiefs , Arenel Movers just to mention a few,the team is poised for even greater success, and the annual awards ceremony was the perfect way to cap off an unforgettable season.
