ICC Launches Future Leaders Program to Empower Women in Cricket Coaching

In a groundbreaking initiative, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the Future Leaders Program, aimed at nurturing the next generation of female cricket coaches. Devarain Dinesha, a seasoned coach from South Africa, has been appointed as the mentor coach.

The inaugural session kicked off in Kigali, bringing together eight talented coaches from across Africa,Gislaine Umubyeyi (Rwanda),Nonhlahla Kamuteku (Zimbabwe), Monica Pascal (Tanzania),Sandrah Achwao (Uganda),Sarah Bakitah (Nigeria),Etim Blessing (Nigeria),Margaret Banja (Kenya),Tamala Mpandakwaya (Malawi)

These coaches, already making their mark in the ongoing ICC U19 Africa Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, will benefit from expert guidance and mentorship.

The program focuses on women ,who are currently involved in coaching and Will remain active in cricket coaching for at least two years, including potential head coaches

The ICC’s vision is to promote sustainable and impactful participation of women in cricket coaching at the highest level.

By investing in these future leaders, the ICC aims to ,Increase female representation in coaching ,Foster a supportive community,Develop leadership skills, Enhance coaching expertise.

This pioneering program paves the way for women to take center stage in cricket coaching, shaping the sport’s future.
