As the world joined Africa and in particular Zimbabwe in celebrating Africa Day, some civic Organisations; Hope Through Sport and Sports Grind, chose to address the plight of the African girl child through sport . Under a theme Collective participation and power in sport beyond COVID-19 pandemic the Organisations assembled a few girls to compete at Sobukazi School grounds in Mzilikazi, Bulawayo.
In spite of the limitations to host a fully fledged and well subscribed event due to Covid-19 regulations, the Organisation Coordinators, Tenacious Mabuza and Buhlebenkosi Ncube said they could not fold hands and let this special day pass, but rather went ahead with this event, utilising COVID-19 protective measures to avoid spreading the virus.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the school committee, Mr Max Mkandla highlighted that they combined this event with the usual school training routines in a bid to celebrate Africa Day in a special way. He, however, made an assurance that the school and community at large will remain vigilant in observing the COVID-19 regulations.
